Please note that London North East Community Foundation has changed its name to East London Community Foundation.

They have a new website which can be found at www.elcf.org.uk The website allows applicants for Sport Relief and other grant programmes to download forms directly. Soon applicants will also be able to complete forms online.

This is a basic CRB checks awareness workshop intended for staff, volunteers and Management Committee members.

It will last a morning and will give information on who should be CRB checked, and how this check can be accessed.

The important thing to remember about public speaking is not are you going to be able to speak for a given length of time, it is are you going to get people to listen for that time.

The course will cover all aspects of delivering a speech, including preparing your text so that it is “speakable”, vocal use, body language and making contact with all parts of your audience.

Topics include:

- The basics of good public speaking

- How to structure an effective talk

- Using speaking notes

- Developing your personal presentation style and being credible

- Dealing with difficult situations

- Dealing with questions

- Handling nerves

- Practice sessions in public speaking

This course is open to voluntary and community organisations in the borough of Redbridge only. Private businesses and statutory agencies are not eligible. Places are limited to two per organisation.

This course is aimed at anyone new to report writing or who wants to develop their skills. It will look at the basics of report writing, including structure, presentation and organisation and will include practice sessions on aspects of report writing.

Participants are encouraged to being in examples of reports they have written or any material that will help them in writing a report.

This course will help you to ensure that your organisation is complying with the Disability Discrimintation Act. It covers topics such as:

- What is meant by the term disability
- Using appropriate language and behaviour when dealing with disability issues and disabled people
- Identifying ways in which disabled people as employees could be effectively integrated into the workplace
- Building support networks and systems for effecting disability equality in the workplace
